Be ready

Typhoon pet safety

A little planning keeps your family and your animals safe together when a storm comes.

Pack a pet go-bag

  • Food and clean water for at least 3 days
  • Leash, collar with an ID tag, and a carrier or crate
  • A recent photo of your pet (for finding them if lost)
  • Vaccination card, especially the rabies vaccine
  • Towel, plastic bags for waste, and any medicine your vet prescribed

Before, during and after

  1. Ask your barangay early whether the evacuation centre accepts pets, or where pets can stay.
  2. Never tie or leave pets chained outside — they cannot escape floodwater.
  3. Move pets with you when you evacuate, in a carrier or on a leash.
  4. Keep cats inside a carrier at the evacuation centre; they hide and get lost when scared.
  5. After the storm, check for wounds and keep pets away from floodwater and fallen wires.
  6. If your pet is lost, report it on our help page with a photo and the map location.
